ARMSTRONG - A motorcyclist has been airlifted to the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops after an accident on Highway 97a.
Armstrong Fire Chief Ian Cummings confirmed reports that an air ambulance had been called in at around 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. It was the second motorcycle accident to which Armstrong Fire Department crews responded in less than an hour.
"The second was fairly serious. We called in a medevac to Kamloops," Cummings said of the single-vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 97a near Back Enderby Road.
Earlier in the afternoon, Cummings said firefighters were called to a separate motorcycle accident also on Highway 97a. Minor injuries were sustained in the first incident.
Traffic delays are to be expected as crews continue to investigate and clear the scene.
There is currently no word on the motorcyclist's condition.
