One in custody after weapon assault on North Shore

One person is in custody after they were assaulted with a weapon on the North Shore in Kamloops this morning.

RCMP officers were called to the 700-block of 12 Street at around 8:45 a.m. today, Feb 24, after someone was assaulted with a weapon, RCMP said in a media release. Police don't say what weapon was used.

When officers arrived they found one person with non-life-threatening injuries and that person was transported to hospital.

Police made one arrest at the scene. RCMP don't say what charges the suspect faces.

Schools in the area were put on a brief hold and secure out of an abundance of caution.

Officers were still on the scene late in the morning and police asked residents to use caution in the area or avoid the area if possible.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-5160.
