VERNON – A person was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 97 just north of Vernon yesterday afternoon.

RCMP say shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 19, emergency crews were called to a three-vehicle collision at Highway 97 and Meadow Lark Road.

One person was killed and the cause of the crash hasn’t been determined, according to an RCMP media release.

The identity of the person killed hasn’t been released as police work to contact family members.

Highway 97 was closed for several hours, and traffic detoured to Old Kamloops Road and Pleasant Valley Road, as investigators examined the scene of the crash. It reopened at about 10 p.m., Drive B.C. says.
