A person was killed by a train in Kamloops this morning.

Canadian Pacific Railway reported a collision with a pedestrian to Kamloops RCMP at around 6 a.m. today, June 13, according to a press release from police.

When officers arrived at the train tracks near the Kal Tire retreading plant, in the Kelly Douglas and Vicars Road area, they found a dead person.

“It’s very early in the investigation, which will be conducted concurrently with the BC Coroners Service and the Canadian Pacific Railway Police,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

RCMP have not released any details about the deceased's identity.

“If anyone witnessed or captured any surveillance or dash camera footage from early this morning or overnight that could be connected, please contact police as soon as possible with any information that may be available,” Evelyn said.

Anyone with information about what happened before the collision is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-18241.
