One woman is dead after the truck she was in veered from Highway 97 into 6 Mile Lake on Sunday.

B.C. Emergency Health Services called Clinton RCMP to the scene on July 25, around 11:30 a.m., where police found bystanders performing CPR on a woman who was in the vehicle when it went into the lake, according to a Southeast District RCMP press release.

"Despite the tireless actions by all those involved in the resuscitation efforts of the woman in her early 30’s, which lasted over 45 minutes, she was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel," Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, B.C. RCMP spokesperson said.

RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

A man who was also in the truck survived and he was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police say both the man and the woman who were in the vehicle were in their thirties.

The truck, a red 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, was found by divers 33 feet underwater and later pulled from the lake by a tow truck. The truck was previously reported to Ashcroft RCMP as stolen from Cache Creek on July 21.

"Although a full determination has yet to be made, police do not believe at this juncture of the investigation, that criminality was involved in the woman’s death," Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said.

If you witnessed this crash, you observed the pickup truck prior to the incident, or you have any additional information that may aid in the investigation you are can call the Clinton RCMP at 250-459-2221.
