KELOWNA - Beginning at 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, McClure Road will be closed to thru traffic between Gordon Drive and Lakeshore Road for utilities work.
Local access only to residences will be maintained. Due to the uneven road surface, cyclists are encouraged to follow the posted cyclist detour via Collette or Sarsons roads.
While Lakeshore Road remains open to two-way traffic the uneven road surface may cause traffic to move slower or to use other routes, contributing to more congestion than normal in other areas.
Motorists will continue to experience delays and are urged to give themselves extra time or use alternate routes.
Work on Lakeshore Road between Knowles and McClure is continuing with utility replacement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, street lighting and a multi-use pathway to be constructed. The first layer of asphalt is planned in November.
Streetscaping work is ongoing between Knowles and Dehart including trees, irrigation, plantings, brickwork and street lights will continue to be installed with possible intermittent, non-peak time traffic interruptions. The final layer of asphalt and finishing work is scheduled to be completed next spring.
