One man has been arrested and another is in critical condition in a hospital after falling from a second-floor balcony.

According to a Kelowna RCMP media release, police got a report someone fell from an apartment building in the 1700 block of Abbott Street at 7 a.m. April 22.

RCMP officers arrived at the building to find a man laying on the ground, unconscious, and with severe injuries. The man was rushed to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

"This was a disturbing situation for residents and police officers alike," Kelowna RCMP Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in the release. "Our thoughts are with the victim and his family."

Court records show that Jeffrey James Holub, born 1995, has been charged with aggravated assault and is in custody and scheduled for a bail hearing tomorrow, April 25.

Police are appealing to the public if they witnessed the event or have any video of this area to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference file 2023-21366.
