ANKARA, Turkey - The Canadian women's basketball team dropped a 59-56 decision to Croatia in quarter-final play Friday at the FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament.
Croatia qualified for the London Games with the upset victory while Canada needs to win two games over the weekend to capture the last remaining Olympic berth.
The Canadians had a five-point lead after three quarters but were outscored 18-10 in the fourth.
Croatia holds the No. 31 position in the FIBA world rankings, 20 positions below Canada.
Courtnay Pilypaitis of Orleans, Ont., scored 11 points for Canada.
Three other quarter-final games were scheduled for later in the day. The winners will qualify for the Olympics while the losers will join Canada in the weekend playoff.
