Oliver woman arrested in Kelowna with a stolen car

March 05, 2020 - 7:56 AM

Multi-tasking paid off for a Kelowna Mountie who found a suspected car thief while dealing with another case.

Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said an RCMP officer was busy with an investigation near the corner of Harvey Avenue and Richter Street in Kelowna when he noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in the area.

"A check of the licence plate showed that the vehicle had been reported stolen," Noseworthy said in a release. "The driver of the stolen vehicle attempted to flee but was unable to get past the police vehicle."

She was placed under arrest for possession of stolen property after a brief struggle.

The 33-year-old Oliver woman had several outstanding warrants. She is currently in custody on this matter. Her name is not being released at this time.
