OLIVER - It’s an Oliver icon, having been a familiar landmark on Oliver’s Main Street since 1946, and it's now it can be yours.

The Oliver Theatre was listed for sale recently for $599,900.

Oliver Theatre was one of the small town movie theatre subjects in a documentary titled, "Out of the Interior:Survival of the small town cinema in British Columbia." It was released last year by husband and wife filmmakers Curtis and Silmara Emde, who explored how small town theatres like Oliver Theatre survive and thrive when theatres in larger centres close.

The 300-seat theatre is well known to residents of the South Okanagan, many of whom drive from Penticton or the Similkameen to experience its classic theatre feel.

The theatre has been converted to a fully digital, 3D operation and also comes with a three-bedroom suite at the back of the property.

Oliver theatre has been operated by the same owners for 42 years. They are now retiring.
