Boxing Day shopping at Orchard Park Mall in Kelowna was busier than shoppers say they've seen it in years.
With red signs advertising reduced prices and deals only available in-store, Orchard Park Mall was packed with shoppers sniffing out good deals.
“There were people actually lined up outside today, which we haven't seen in years,” shopper Jill said. “That's kind of abnormal. It’s never like this. We haven't seen this since pre-COVID.”
Shoppers iNFOnews.ca spoke with, who were reluctant to provide their surnames, said they haven’t been to the mall in over 20 years, and the hustle and bustle is exactly what they expected.
By 10 a.m. the parking lot at the Okanagan's largest shopping mall was full.
Jeff and his wife Linda live in Penticton but come to Orchard Park for the bigger selection of clothing and household items.
The pair hasn’t been Boxing Day shopping in over two decades, but decided to take on the challenge this year to add some excitement to their day.
Jenaya and Morgan, two friends shopping together, said they were looking for the best deals and also items missing from their own Christmas gift lists.
The pair, who hit the Boxing Day sales every year, said they aren't deterred by the crowds of fellow shoppers.
“We come Boxing Day shopping because I get the stuff that I didn't get on my Christmas list,” Jenaya said. “You might as well take advantage."
