Okanagan YMCA vans targeted by vandals in Kelowna

Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's assistance in locating suspects involved in what it calls a "senseless act of vandalism" in Kelowna earlier this month.

Kelowna RCMP were contacted on Jan. 15 to investigate the vandalism to vehicles at the Okanagan YMCA in the Rutland neighbourhood.

Vandals targeted two white Ford Transit 350 “Sunshine Coach” vans on Hartman Road, smashed out a total of 10 windows and shot BB guns at the vans, a Crime Stoppers media release said.

“This was the second occurrence in two weeks, causing the vans to be taken off the road for maintenance instead of being used by the facility for children’s after-school transportation and programs,” Crime Stoppers said in the release.

If you know anything about the vandalism call the Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tips line at 1-800-222-TIPS or visit the website here.

Information will be kept confidential and could lead to a reward of up to $2,000.
