The Okanagan Science Centre has set a date to reopen its doors following its closure due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The science centre, located in Vernon, has announced its soft opening on Tuesday, June 23. The science centre will be open to members only, who can pre-book set times for a group of up to 20 attendees.

According to a media release from the Okanagan Science Centre, "if all goes well" it will be expanding its hours in July and offering more availability. Currently, groups can book four separate slots on weekdays and three on Saturday. Booking will soon be available online.

While bookings are open to science centre members, non-members are welcome to be part of the group and will have to pay the regular admission fee. The release says group members will be kept at least two metres from other groups visiting the centre.

The science centre currently has the travelling exhibit, Inspiring Nature, Inspired Techo, Biomimicry and Transport on display. Groups will also be able to view the planetarium show and ride the gyro chair for an extra fee come July.

The Okanagan Science Centre is also reminding members to renew their membership and for newcomers now is a great time to sign-up. A one-year family membership cost $57.50 or $115 for three years. It is also currently offering a Father's Day gift package, which includes yearly membership and a selection of science-themed gifts to choose from.
