The Okanagan Regional Library Board of Trustees announced at the Nov. 17 meeting that in-person programs will resume in branches.

To comply with COVID-19 rules and regulations, virtual programs will also continue.

Due to flooding, the Princeton Library branch is without heat, but the damage is minimal. No other regional library branches were damaged.

In November, the Lake Country Library switched to a seven-day-a-week service, which was possible after the reallocation of the Oyama branch funding.

The West Kelowna Library and City Hall project is proceeding on time and budget, a regional library board press release said.

The board of trustees were given a virtual tour of the construction underway at the West Kelowna Library. The civil work is underway, and work on the foundation is expected to start shortly.

The board also approved the committee’s recommendations for updating parts of the materials policy and strengthening the rules of conduct policy to ban demonstrations in the library, added a new policy relating to diversity and inclusion and special recognition days, and agreed to postpone developing a new strategic plan until 2023.

Lastly, the board heard that financial results are consistent with expectations, and they expect to be in a financially secure position at the end of the year.
