A Kelowna caremongering Facebook group and chef have teamed up to give a few lucky graduates a special prize.
Chef Kevin Negoro and founder Allison Bradley of Caremongering - Kelowna, a Facebook group that aims to connect those who can help with those in need during the pandemic, are asking participants to share their random acts of kindness to the Facebook group for a chance to win a meal graduation package, Negoro said.
“We figured this would be an excellent opportunity because we know that grad is coming and I know it’s been on the backburner and now that they’re releasing restrictions I thought this would (be a fun way to support graduates),” he said.
Grad ceremonies will not be taking place as they normally would in pre-pandemic times as provincial health officer Bonnie Henry has repeatedly said large gatherings will not be happening this summer, said Central Okanagan school board chair Moyra Baxter, in a virtual town hall held May 1.
Two lucky winners will receive a graduation meal package after the announcement will be made on the Facebook group on June 20.
B.C.’s Premier John Horgan announced earlier this week that COVID-19 restrictions will be eased in phases.
