KELOWNA - Central Okanagan athlete Brent Fikowski has taken fourth place at the CrossFit Games, an international competition for the top athletes in the sport.

It was Fikowski’s first appearance at the world games where he also managed to win four individual events on the way to his strong showing.

He took to Facebook after the final event yesterday, July 24, in Carson, Calif.

"This moment. This moment right here was worth everything. I gave it all I had on that final event, leaned on the wall, and some fan yelled into my ear 'look at how far you've come.' And I burst into tears,” Fikowski wrote. "I did my best to leave no points on the table all weekend and I'm so happy."

Fikowski trains out of Kelowna CrossFit and has been involved in some form of athletics for most of his life, including competitive swimming as well as indoor and beach volleyball at the college and university level.

He began CrossFit in Australia in 2012 and his strong showings in regional competitions caused him to switch his focus. Fikowski is 25 years old, stands 6'2" and weighs 212 lbs.
