Vancouver police warn the public about release of high-risk sex offender

VANCOUVER - Police are warning that a 34-year-old man who has served more than 13 years in prison for the sexual assault and attempted murder of a teenaged boy will be living in Vancouver.

Vancouver police say Donald Joseph Scott has a lengthy criminal history, and they believe he poses a high risk to re-offend and a significant risk to the safety of children and young people.

He is described as Caucasian, standing 5-8, weighing 186 pound and has brown hair, a beard and blue eyes.

Police say he must not possess or own weapons, consume drugs or alcohol or visit liquor stores, pubs or bars.

He's also restricted from having contact with people under the age of 16 and must stay away from daycare centres, school grounds, playgrounds, public parks, or swimming areas.

Police say residents should call them or 911 if they see Scott breaking any of his conditions.
