Off-duty Kelowna cop helps nab thief

An off-duty Kelowna RCMP officer helped to nab a criminal this past weekend.

On Saturday, Feb. 8, the off-duty officer witnessed a man break into a business in the 1200 block of Ellis Street in Kelowna, according to an RCMP media release. The suspect stole over $5,000 worth of merchandise.

Police do not identify the business.

RCMP say with the description given by the off-duty officer, police were able to catch the suspect. All of the goods were returned to the store.

A 42-year-old man was remanded into custody. His identity has not been released.
