A survey by an international property restoration company shows that B.C. resident’s biggest disaster concerns are wildfires.
That’s the highest ranked wildfire concern of any province, at 85%, in the First Onsite Property Restorations survey conducted last spring but released today, Nov. 22, by the Farmer’s Almanac.

While things like severe rains or flooding (82%), home fires (69%) and winter storms (63%) also rank high among British Columbians, a significant number are also worried about hurricanes or tropical storms (29%).
The survey included 1,508 people across Canada.
It found 60% of B.C. residents were concerned about not being prepared for weather events, the highest rate of any province.
B.C. also led the way with the highest level of concern in the country for personal or family safety (71%), insurance coverage (60%), the cost of major renovations or repairs (70%) and having to leave their communities (58%).
