MTA approves fare and toll hikes

February 27, 2019 - 5:35 PM

New Yorkers are getting hit with a new wave of toll and fare hikes.

The MTA board on Wednesday approved fare and toll increases on subways, railroads, buses and tolled crossings.

The MetroCard base fare of $2.75 will stay the same, but the five per cent bonus for buying multiple trips will disappear.

The cost of a 7-day pass is going up by $1 and a 30-day pass will go up by $6. The Express bus fare goes up 50 cents.

Tolls hikes on MTA bridges and tunnels will go into effect March 31.

Fare hikes for subway and commuter rails will go into effect April 21.
