Fire damages 3 dump trucks at New York DOT site near Albany

VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y. - Authorities say a fire that damaged three vehicles at a New York Department of Transportation facility in suburban Albany is considered suspicious.

The Albany County Sheriff's Office says the fire was reported around 5 a.m. Friday at the DOT site in the village of Voorheesville (VOOR'-eez-vihl).

When emergency crews arrived, three dump trucks were engulfed in flames. People living nearby heard explosions as the trucks' tires exploded.

Police say the damage to the trucks is estimated at $500,000.

The facility was closed at the time the fire was reported. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
