WATERVILLE, N.S. - Tire manufacturer Michelin has announced it is going to spend $64.1 million to expand one of its plants in Nova Scotia.
The company has announced an expansion of its facility in Waterville in the hopes of adding 50 jobs to the 1,300 who are already employed there.
The provincial government says it will also provide Michelin with up to $8.9 million if those jobs are created and the expansion proceeds.
Dana LeBlanc of Michelin North America says the investment shows demand for the company's tire products is growing.
The project will include a 3,000-square-metre expansion of an assembly plant and the purchase of new technology to help build tires for commercial trucking.
Michelin Canada has over 3,700 employees, with 3,500 employees working at Michelin's three tire production plants in the Nova Scotia communities of Bridgewater, Granton and Waterville.
