Not many signs of spring in this week's Kamloops forecast

Some cooler temperatures are in store for Kamloops this week as the approach of spring disappears for a few days.

Spring is taking a breather as Kamloops should see temperatures falling below seasonal normals along with a good chance of snow this week.

Today, March 9, should be one of the nicer days with Environment Canada calling for sunny skies and a high of 8 C.

That will be 2 C lower than the average Kamloops high for this time of year, however, which is normally 10 C along with a low of -1 C.

Tonight should be clear until midnight when clouds are expected roll in bringing a 30 per cent chance of flurries along with a low of -3 C.

Midweek should bring with it an increased chance of snow with the probability of some flakes falling on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The flurries could turn to rain by late morning on Tuesday as the snow level rises to 900 metres in the afternoon. Tuesday's high should reach 8 C.

Tuesday could be windy as well with a call for wind southeast at 30 km/h, gusting to 50.

The clouds are expected to linger overnight along with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a low of 0 C.

There's still a 60 per cent probability of flurries on Wednesday under a sun and cloud mix, with a high reaching 8 C once again.

Thursday’s sunshine is expected to be accompanied by a drop in temperatures with a high of only 5 C expected.

An approaching system on Thursday night is expected to bring clouds overnight and periods of snow to the city on Friday, when the high will only reach -1 C.

Kamloops should see sunny skies return for the weekend, but things are going to be on the cool side as Saturday and Sunday is expected to see highs of only 3 C and 5 C respectively.
