North Shore man pulls knife on police

KAMLOOPS – A man acting strangely and not dressed for the weather pulled a knife during a struggle with the police early this morning.

The man is in custody and facing charges following a bizarre incident that happened this morning on the North Shore.

Sgt. Darren Michels says the man was walking outside at approximately 12:10 a.m., wearing a t-shirt and waving his arms in the air.

Police stopped the man near the intersection of Tranquille Road and Clapperton Avenue.

Michels says the man was under the influence of drugs and became uncooperative.

The man pulled a knife and fought with police. The police service dog and several back up officers were needed to bring him into custody.

According to Michels, the man was taken to the hospital for minor medical treatment and is now in police custody. He's facing charges of resisting arrest and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
