When a woman from Cherryville instantly won $675,000, she decided that a nice dinner and a trip to Newfoundland would be the best ways to indulge.

Olga Prevost bought a winning Set for Life ticket at Fresh Mart on Vernon Street in Lumby, according to a press release from the B.C. Lottery Corporation issued today, June 28.

“I scratched the ticket and went into shock,” she said in the release. “I thought, ‘is this real?’”

Prevost scratched the ticket at home and checked the lotto app to verify that it was a winner. Then she went to a local gas station to check again. Then she finally broke the news to her husband.

“He was so happy and said, ’this is too good.’”

Prevost likes playing with her French bulldog puppies, gardening and riding her bike around Cherryville.

“This is so surreal and a little nerve-wracking. We can do some fun things like travel.”
