VERNON - Police are prepping for another holiday season, which means being on the lookout for impaired drivers throughout December and into the New Year.

The CounterAttack impaired driving campaign begins on Dec. 1 across the province, according to an RCMP media release.

The Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP will be participating in the campaign, along with North Okanagan RCMP Traffic Services and the Integrated Road Safety Unit.

Police say they'll be conducting enhanced enforcement on highways and streets, along with road checks for impaired motorists across North Okanagan.

Drivers can also expect an overall heightened police presence during the month-long campaign.

"If your holiday festivities include alcohol or drugs, please arrange for a designated driver, call a taxi, take transit, or use a holiday driving service where available," Const. Kelly Brett said in the release. "Let’s all do our part for a safe holiday season."
