A truck driver is $173 out of pocket after he was pulled over by Vernon RCMP for having a couple of feet of snow on the roof.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP social media post, the driver was issued a $173 ticket for driving with an unsecured load.

"Driving with a snowcap like this on your vehicle is dangerous and could lead to an accident or cause serious injuries if it were to break free," Vernon RCMP said in the post.

B.C. law states it is illegal for a vehicle to carry cargo if the method of the cargo's securement is deemed unsafe.

Vernon RCMP is reminding drivers to take the time to clear their vehicles before heading out on the road.
