A North Okanagan community has come up with a novel way of celebrating Easter during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Silver Creek Community Association is holding the Easter Hunt Social Distancing Style. The unique Easter egg hunt sees participants stay in their vehicles as they drive through the Salmon River Valley collecting clues from over a dozen different participants.

The Silver Creek Community Association has produced a map for people to follow and each site will have a letter or number posted along the route at a local business or farm. Once participants have collected all the letters and numbers they will then use them to solve an "easter riddle" and submit their entry online.

The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to one of the 16 local businesses or farms along the route. Participants are encouraged to take selfies along the route and tag themselves with the local business. The two best selfies will win an Easter basket full of goodies.

The Easter Hunt Social Distancing Style closes midnight April 13.

In other Okanagan cities, party parades involving vehicles were cancelled shortly after they began, with organizers stating that they need to heed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's message to stay home.
