VERNON - Amidst all the lifestyle changes, pain and discomfort of losing her right leg three weeks ago, North Okanagan woman Pamela Guenard’s big dilemma right now is what to do with all her right shoes.

Guenard, 64, suffered a blood clot and had to have her right leg amputated at the hip to save her life.

“If the leg didn’t come off, I was going to die,” Guenard says.

An avid and independent outdoorswoman, Guenard says she’s had to make many adjustments over the past few weeks, including getting used to a wheelchair and moving out of her condo to a supported care residence.

“I’ve been through a lot of emotions,” she says. “But, life does go on.”

It didn’t take long for Guenard’s focus to move to practical things like what she’s going to do with her vast shoe collection.

“I have at least 50 pairs, that may be a conservative estimate,” Guenard says. “I like shoes.”

Thinking it a shame to simply throw out the right shoes, Guenard decided to post on Facebook, hoping to find them a 'sole-mate'.

“I’m sure there’s somebody standing out there on a right leg looking for some shoes,” she says.

The shoes are size eight ranging from casual to dressy styles, and some have never been worn. They are free to a good home, Guenard says.

Anyone interested can call her at 778-930-1240.
