North Kamloops recreation consultations upcoming

KAMLOOP - Recreation facilities will be the topic of a series of meetings coming up in next month.

Community consultations will be starting in March about the future of Westsyde Pool and Brocklehurst pool.

Petitions have been started in support of both facilities as city councillors discussed the costs associated with updating recreational infrastructure and the possibility of a new facility elsewhere.

The first meeting will be held at Arthur Stevenson Elementary School on March 3. It will be followed by meetings at Parkcrest Elementary on March 7, NorKam Secondary on March 9 and Sandman Centre on March 15. All meetings will be from 7 to 9 p.m.

The meetings precede a potential $100,000 study which would look further into the issue, though city staff have said the study hinges on the outcome of the upcoming consultations.
