PENTICTON - Tourism Penticton wants the world to know the South Okanagan is not, in fact, on fire.

They're encouraging tourism businesses members and residents to join a social media campaign to update the public on current conditions on wildfires.

With wildfires currently active within the area, staff from Tourism Penticton are asking businesses to post real-time photos and videos to their social media channels of current conditions in the area, according to a media release issued by Tourism Penticton.

Videos are asked to be kept between 10 to 15 seconds long, and all postings are to be made daily at 9 a.m. or 6 p.m. until fires are contained and no longer pose a threat.

Businesses are asked to use the following wording for social media posts made to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram:

“Curious about the “Real Time” conditions in Penticton at (business name)? Take a look at this video or photo shot today at 9:00am or 6:00pm. Please understand conditions are changing daily. @visitpenticton, @cityofpenticton, @TOTABCnews, #visitpenticton, #route97 & #explorebc #BCtourismmatters”
