KELOWNA - An early morning fire in Rutland caused “major damage” to a two-storey house on Highway 33.

No one was home at the time, Kelowna Fire Department Platoon Capt. Dennis Miller said in a press release, and no injuries were reported to any of the firefighters, paramedics or RCMP who responded around 5 a.m.

Crews managed to protect townhouses to the west of the fire which was fully involved when they arrived, Miller said.

Cause of the fire is undetermined and investigation continues, Miller added.
