Firefighters safely put out a garage fire in Kelowna last night.

The Kelowna Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the 400 block of Dougall Road around 9:30 p.m. on April 6, according to a press release.

When firefighters arrived they found a detached garage going up in flames.

First responders managed to put out the fire quickly but the garage was heavily damaged.

The fire department is investigating to find out what caused the fire.

No one was injured, but firefighters want to remind the public to check smoke alarms regularly.

The department sent  4 engines, one safety unit, one rescue unit, one command unit, one Deputy Chief, and 21 personnel.
