ASHCROFT – A lack of doctors have forced an Easter long weekend closure of the Ashcroft emergency department.

The emergency department will be closed for the weekend starting Friday, April 14 at 6 p.m. to and including Monday April 17, according to a release from the Interior Health Authority.

Interior Health says the emergency room normally operates on weekends only. Normal emergency department hours will resume on Friday, April 21 at 6 p.m.

Residents should call 911 in case of emergency, visit the emergency department at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, Lillooet Hospital or 100 Mile District General Hospital, Interior health says. HealthLinkBC is available 24-hours at 811, if residents are unsure of the need to go to the hospital.

Interior Health says they are still seeking physicians to cover for the April 14 long weekend, and will notify the public if succesful.
