VAVENBY – The latest test results from the Vavenby Water System are in and show no diesel in the samples taken three days ago.

In a release issued today, Jan. 23, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District says this is the third consecutive test with no diesel detected. The samples were taken on Jan. 20, 2017.

On Jan. 16, 2017, a truck carrying diesel fuel crashed into the North Thompson waterway near Avola prompted a 'do not use' order from the Interior Health Authority.
The 'do not use' order is still in effect.

According to the release, water is available at the Vavenby Fire Hall between noon and 7 p.m. Residents can access shower facilities at the North Thompson Sportsplex in Clearwater from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. this week. Those needing transportation can catch the bus at the Vavenby store at 6 p.m. daily.

The release states that the regional district will carry on taking multiple samples and continue to flush the water system.
