As a member of the 2007 Vancouver Giants, Milan Lucic – who’s now a forward for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League – is getting inducted into the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame in Penticton.
The Giants shared a quick clip to Twitter of Lucic inviting the public to join him at the ceremony tonight, July 21.
“So come join me and the rest of my teammates at the South Okanagan Events Centre,” Lucic said in a video recorded at Red Rooster Winery in Penticton.
The Giants won the 2007 Memorial Cup after defeating the Medicine Hat Tigers in the final game at Pacific Coliseum. The team posted a record of 45-17-10 that season, and Lucic was the leading scoring with 68 points.
Headlining tonight’s event will be the induction of former Penticton Vees defensemen Duncan Keith and former NHLer Brent Seabrook. Keith and Seabrook played on the Chicago Blackhawks together where they won three Stanley Cup championships together. They are called “one of the most decorated defensive pairing in NHL History,” in the event description.
Tickets for the Inductee Gala cost $75 through this link. The event begins at 5 p.m.
