Lack of computer skills may cost doctor, 85, her practice

Original Publication Date October 13, 2017 - 5:01 AM

NEW LONDON, N.H. - An 85-year-old New Hampshire doctor who couldn't participate in a state-regulated prescription drug monitoring program because she doesn't use computers may be forced to close her practice.

The state Board of Medicine cites Dr. Anna Konopka's record keeping and medical practices at her New London office. Konopka voluntarily surrendered her license last month and will stop seeing patients after Friday. She tells WMUR-TV she doesn't use a computer at her practice and therefore doesn't participate in the mandatory drug monitoring program. She has been practicing for more than 30 years.

Konopka said Friday she has an emergency court hearing on Nov. 3 and hopes to resume seeing her nearly 300 patients after that.

The doctor says she has written to Republican Gov. Chris Sununu in hopes of getting help.
