VERNON - While many people resolve to give themselves a fresh look in the new year, the Okanagan Regional Library branch in Salmon Arm is getting a head start on its makeover this week.
Starting today, Dec. 17, the Salmon Arm library is offering limited services to the community as it ramps up its extensive renovation process, according to an Okanagan Regional Library media release.
The library is completely changing its layout and features. The men and women's washrooms will be replaced, the service desk will relocate to the centre of the library, meeting and common rooms will be built, and the walls will receive a fresh coat of paint.
Due to the construction and noise levels, the library is now operating at a reduced capacity. Customers will be able to returns item, pick up on-hold pieces, and peruse a small selection of materials, but all other parts of the library are closed.
Like all Okanagan Regional Library branches, the Salmon Arm library will close on Dec. 22 for the holiday season. However, while other branches will be operational on Jan. 2, Salmon Arm will require an extra week for further renovations.
The revitalized Salmon Arm library will be open to the public on Jan. 10, 2019.
