VERNON - The old Liquidation World building in downtown Vernon has two confirmed tenants, a federal government office and a pot shop.

A Service Canada centre and a Hive Cannabis store are confirmed tenants for the historic roughly 19,400 square foot building.

City of Vernon Manager of economic development and tourism Kevin Poole confirmed a lease had been signed with Service Canada and a cannabis store at council's April 23 meeting. According to the Hive Cannabis website, a non-medical retail store is set to open at the site.

The building located at 3301-30 Avenue had six spaces up for grabs and Poole said the landlord has reported a lot of interest from prospective tenants. The city manager said rumours of a Catus Club restaurant opening up in the building were not true.

Liquidation World closed down in 2014, following a countrywide shutdown that saw more than 70 of its stores around the country close their doors.
