New restaurant to open in downtown Kamloops

Owners of The Noble Pig Brewhouse, Maeghan Summers and her husband are getting ready to open their second restaurant in downtown Kamloops. A more modern restaurant with a strong whisky presence on the menu.

KAMLOOPS - Owners of The Noble Pig Brewhouse will be adding a new restaurant to the downtown core.

Partner and co-owner Maeghan Summers says they want to continue to source locally and keep a strong sustainable footprint, as they’ve done in the past with their current restaurant The Noble Brewhouse.

“We want to pay tribute to our local sourcing while also showcasing what Kamloops has to offer itself,” Summers says.

In the past The Noble Pig Brewhouse took on the 'skip the straw' resolution, an environment friendly initiative aimed to reduce plastic pollution.

Summers and her husband, Jared, officially closed the deal on a location April 1. The new eatery, Forno on 5th, will have a Mediterranean feel and take over the space at 5 avenue and Lansdowne Street.

Summers says it’s been a dream of hers to open a new restaurant from scratch and is looking forward to the challenge.

“I grew up in the restaurant industry and have about 25 years hospitality experience, so it’s exciting to do a brand new build,” Summers says.

Summers and her husband had over 40 locations to choose from as well as six different business plans for the new restaurant, but were able to narrow down their decision at the beginning of the month.

“It’s going to be a modern place for Kamloops,” Summers says. “Guests are going to have a variety of things to choose from."

Summers says she hopes the restaurant will be open for business around mid August. The eatery will have a strong whisky presence as well as a limited brunch menu.
