Night Shift on Fifth opened its doors last night and there was a long line up at the door of the former CJs with patrons excited to hit the dance floor.

The new club, which plays top 40 with a DJ, took over the space from Cactus Jack’s.

Blue Grotto owners Pup Johnston and Sherri Lynn King decided to take over the lease for former country nightclub and rebrand it as as Nightshift on Fifth. CJs had been closed for much of the pandemic.

Johnston had a hunch there might be an appetite for late-night fun in Kamloops.

“What it is, is when you look at downtown Kamloops, it fills up downtown. All the bars, all the restaurants are all full and when they close at 10 p.m. there’s people wandering around with nothing to do,” Johnson told INFOnews.ca in a previous interview.
