KAMLOOPS - A new Kamloops food delivery service is hoping to get your favourite meals to your doorstep without you ever having to leave your home.
Ready@Door is a local startup looking to launch in the city this fall. It was started by Thompson Rivers University students Rajat Kadiyan and Sachin Akula. The food delivery service will allow customers to browse through restaurant menus on their phone or through an online web application.
"We are trying to expand delivery areas," Kadiyan says. "There are still some areas in town that you cannot get food delivered to."
The co-founder says when they first started working on their business plan they originally thought their service would provide delivery for grocery stores. But they learned many local restaurants were not included in existing delivery services.
"There is still a bit of a gap in online delivering for (local) restaurants, they're not online or they don't have a delivery option," Kadiyan says. "So that's how we came up with Ready@Door, it will allow customers to order food from their favourite local restaurants...not just big chains."
The service has been a work in progress for about five months and the owners have been working closely with Kamloops Innovation Centre to bring their business to the next level.
Currently, Kadiyan and Akula are recruiting for drivers and are in the process of finalizing the restaurants that will be on board with the service. Kadiyan says the plan is to have the service up and running for customers by September.
