The Kamloops Blazers appointed a new hockey club president, succeeding Don Moores who died suddenly last year.

Norm Daley is taking over as the president and alternate governor of the team, who recently led the team's successful bid for the 2023 Memorial Cup.

“It is truly an honour to be able to be part of the storied history of the Kamloops Blazers. I have learned much during my time on the advisory board and with my community experience, trust that I can assist in continuing this legacy,” Daley said in a Blazers news release.

Daley has been in Kamloops for 30 years, where he's been coached minor sports teams and has served on the Kamloops Blazers advisory board. Now retired, Daley was the managing partner of his accounting firm, Daley and Company LLP, for 30 years.

“We are fortunate to have an accomplished leader like Norm in the Kamloops community to take on this vital role, and his guidance will be monumental given the responsibility of hosting the Memorial Cup this upcoming season,” team co-owner Tom Gaglardi said. “Norm has been a committed Blazers fan for decades and was instrumental in the successful bid to host the CHL Championship in 2023."

Daley is succeeding Moores, who died in June 2021 while still president of the team. He had a long history with the team and had served as its president since 2016.
