Pacific Coastal Airlines has announced the addition of new flights this winter between Penticton and Vancouver.

Starting Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, the airline will be adding four additional morning flights per week between Vancouver International Airport South Terminal and Penticton Regional Airport or the winter season, according to a media release from the airline issued today, Nov. 1.

“This is welcome news and reinforces that Penticton is a growing, vibrant community,” Penticton Mayor Julius Bloomfield said in a press release. “The data from our survey indicated the demand for frequent air travel – for business, tourism and social reasons – is on the increase and we’re pleased that our meeting with Pacific Coastal Airlines to discuss additional service has led to these new flights."

The flights will depart and arrive in the morning from both airports and will operate on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

  • Flight 8P1301 from Vancouver (YVR) to Penticton (YYF) will leave at 07:55 a.m. and arrive at 08:51 a.m.
  • Flight 8P1302 from Penticton (YYF) to Vancouver (YVR) will leave at 09:15 a.m. and arrive at 10:17 a.m.

This additional winter service in Penticton will be available from Jan. 4, 2024, to Apr. 26, 2024, making it easier for travellers to enjoy both cities' winter attractions.

Thom Tischik with Travel Penticton said the additional flights will be extremely beneficial to the city, while Ellen Walker-Matthews with the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association said the flights are a definite game changer.

“Air access into the Thompson and Okanagan is so important to residents and visitors alike and we are thrilled that Pacific Coastal has been increasing service to all three airports in our region,” Walker-Matthews said in the release.
