KAMLOOPS – Dale McLean of Edmonton is moving to Kamloops to take over the position of fire chief, the city announced Friday.

The position became available after Neill Moroz left in May for personal reasons. The city said at that time they were willing to wait for the right person and Community Safety Director David Duckworth believes they have found that in McLean.

“We are please to welcome Dale to the City of Kamloops. His broad range of experience is an asset to Kamloops Fire Rescue,” Duckworth said in a release. “His excellent reputation with the City of Edmonton union and management staff makes him an excellent candidate for the job.”

He has been the Deputy Fire Chief in Edmonton since 2009 but has been with the department since 1980.

McLean is expected to start Oct. 21.
