KAMLOOPS - The first new office tower in downtown Kamloops in over 20 years will be built in a parking lot next door to Hotel 540.

National Hospitality Group plans to build the six-storey building at 580 Victoria St., according to a Downtown Kamloops media release.

The office building will feature underground parking and a modern "glass-faced" design and National Hospitality Group says it will “further enhance Kamloops’ vibrant downtown image."

“We are excited to see quality office space being developed downtown," Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association general manager Gay Pooler says in the release. "It will help attract businesses who are looking for that type of space to our community.”

This announcement comes less than a week after the news that KPMG is moving their offices into the space at 540 Victoria St. that was vacated by Lake City Casino.
