The Interior Health region recorded one of the 13 new COVID-19 cases in B.C. in the last 24 hours, bringing the region’s total to 202.

That means there have been three new cases in the region since June 29, after recording only two cases for the earlier part of June.

As per past practice, no details of the new cases were reported in the joint news release from Provincial Health Minister Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix today, July 3.

The provincial total is now 2,947. That is not 13 more than the total reported yesterday because six cases from earlier on were found to be contracted by people who live in other provinces.

There were no new deaths so that total remains at 177.

There are 19 people in hospital but only two of them are in intensive care.

"There are 162 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and 2,608 people who tested positive have recovered,” the release states.

Fraser Health region has more than half the cases with 1,553 while Vancouver Coastal sits at 995. There are 132 on Vancouver Island and 65 in the Northern health region.
