For those looking for an awesome camping spot this summer, a new campground is opening next week in Mount Revelstoke National Park.

Only five kilometres from downtown Revelstoke, Snowforest Campground features 62 walk-in tenting and RV sites at the base of the Meadows in the Sky Parkway.

However, only 36 of those sites will be available for booking due to physical distancing protocols. Prospective campers can book online here ahead of the campground's opening July 15.

Snowforest makes an ideal base camp for visiting Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks and hiking trails in the surrounding area, according to Parks Canada.

The new campground is located only five kilometre drive from downtown Revelstoke.

The Meadows in the Sky Parkway is also a popular route for avid bikers, and boasts seven mountain lookout points along the way.

The campsite offers flush toilets, electric hookups, kitchen shelters and eventually hot showers, once COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.

For more information on Snowforest Campground and updates on COVID-19 restrictions to facilities, visit the Parks Canada website here.
