Nelson Police Department closed because two people left a suspicious package in the parking lot

The RCMP Explosives Unit has been called into Nelson to deal with a suspicious package that was dropped off at the cop shop.

"Two unknown individuals" left it in the parking lot, according to a Tweet from the Nelson Police Department this morning, May 7.

Members of the Explosives Unit are assessing the situation. The police station and the 600 block of Stanley Street will be closed.
