KELOWNA – After two down-to-the-wire games in Seattle, the Thunderbirds are coming to Kelowna to continue one of the most exciting series in the WHL playoffs.

The Kelowna Rockets lost game one with just 12 seconds left but evened the series with a 4-3 overtime win in game two. With the best-of-seven series tied at 1-1, games three and four will take place at Prospera Place tonight, April 25 and Wednesday, April 26.

Head Coach Jason Smith says the two teams are evenly matched.

"There were some momentum swings both ways where both teams had generated opportunities to score and I think both teams competed extremely hard," he says in a media release. "The way the first game ended was obviously the way you don't want a game to end. You never want to give up a goal late in a period or late in the game. I thought our group did a great job bouncing back.”

Rockets forward Reid Gardiner scored a goal and added two assists in game one, and scored the overtime winner in game two.

Rockets spokesperson Kevin Bain says the two goals Gardiner scored in game two set a new Rockets franchise record for goals in a single playoff season.

Gardiner’s 15th goal surpasses the record previously held by NHL superstar and former Kelowna Rockets forward Jamie Benn who posted 13 goals for Kelowna in the 2009 post season.

Tickets are available for Rockets home games through selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phoning 250-762-5050.
